NZEYI’S SALT TO WOUND
“The fact is that the man (Muhwezi) didn’t attend his daughter’s wedding, which is a shame,” says a friend of Sherron who attended the wedding. She reveals that the Hon minister’s name was even etched on the wedding card as father of the bride: “Sherron … daughter of Hon Jim Muhwezi…” alongside that of Jane Nyakana Adyeri the mother.
What makes it worse is that Amos Nzeyi, the uncle of Charles Rukundo, Sherron’s husband who also felt he had to attend both weddings, attended the Kavuuya cocktail at the breezy shorelines of Speke Resort Munyonyo and thereafter hopped onto a speed boat to attend his nephew’s wedding at Lake Victoria Hotel Serena
“Jim could have easily done the same,” a family friend to Sherron says.
SUSAN MUHWEZI FACTOR
Sometimes the usual suspect is not always the suspect. With the unresolved question lingering on everyone’s mind, the natural trend of events often dictates that gossip takes its toll.
The obvious victim of this gossip circus was Susan Muhwezi, Jim Muhwezi’s wife.
Rumours have it that Susan was the reason for Muhwezi’s decision. It has been said that she held a firm grip on her husband demanding that they attend her nephew’s wedding.
As believable as the notion might sound, those close to Muhwezi and Susan disagree.
“Jim’s (Muhwezi) not attending his daughter’s wedding had very little to do with Susan,” a close family member contradicted. “Susan heard about the wedding of Sherron from everyone else but Jim. So she also chose to keep quiet.”
So on the morning of the double weddings, the source says, Muhwezi dressed up and went with Susan. She never brought up the subject. She waited for him to do so. He didn’t.
“People are looking at her (Susan Muhwezi) as the proverbial evil stepmother but that is how she chose to handle it. She was waiting for her hubby to tell her what she was hearing from many people,” the source says.
It is understandable why people are pointing fingers at Susan. Sources in the family say Sherron’s mum was there before Susan and Muhwezi is still fond of her and their two children. The existence of two children between them creates an eternal bond, which happens to be the fear of most women who marry men who have children from previous relationships.
CASE OF THE EX
Speculative tide has also swept in the direction of possible tension between Muhwezi and Sherron’s mum.
“People are speculating that maybe Muhwezi and Sherron’s mum have issues to sort out. Basically everyone is trying to figure out why a father would not attend his daughter’s wedding.
“She is a Born Again mother dedicated to the wellbeing of her children. She has no conflicts with anyone,”
Nothing makes rational or remote sense. Every parent knows that a man will give anything in his power to witness or give away his daughter to her husband.
Muhwezi’s absence certainly created a poignant mood. But Sherron looked beyond her pain and anguish to spare a moment to honour her absentee father who, in the eyes of many had dishonored her.
In another setting, her acknowledgement would have aroused applause. In this case, her humility ripped through their hearts.
They cried. THE RICH ALSO CRY!
