NTV and Capital FM’s sports analyst Brian Tuka Kobusingye recently married Daphine Kobusingye. Yes, when it is the woman wearing the pants, the financer, it is the man who takes on wife’s name. And may they live happily ever after! They should, because Brian Tuka knows his position in the relationship.
Daphine’s account is straight from a Mills and Boon’s novel. She says they met at her work place, Café Javas in Kyambogo when Tuka had gone for coffee. However, close friends prefer a more colourful version. In their version, the six years older wife’s hip-swayed provocatively across the table, as she was followed by the popping eyes of every male diner, before boldly joining Tuka and his friends at a table. She greeted all in chorus and had a chat with a City Oil basketball club’s official. Through the chat, she kept her eyes on Tuka.
Food is the sure way to a man’s heart, just like money is the way to his manhood. If it does not apply to every man, it at least applied to Tuka.
Kobusingye buys Tuka’s heart
The 34-year-old manager of Café Javas Kyambogo went through City Oil basketball Club players and officials to find Tuka, a lad well known for weak knees whenever a loaded woman is in the same room. Daphine is more than a manager of Javas. She is the paymaster, the cashier, the moneybags of City Oil basketball team. She pays the players, officials and anyone else who makes the team smile. Such people include journalists who publish “good” stories about the team.
And that is how Tuka falls in. He used to take everyone’s “transport refund”. He was envied by Café Javas employees, by City Oil basketball players and officials because he was richer. He was just being paid for his good looks.
Before Daphine, he had hit it off with Capital FM’s News Editor Patricia Osman. The two were as close as two seeds in a pod. Real tight stuff! She was his boss, earning seven times more than him. However, in Daphine he saw more money, more free food and a life of luxury. He dumped Osman’s salary-based money and opted for Daphine’s allowance-based money. He now does not have to wait for the end of month to live large.
However, Tuka was not born that way. He used to be a humble chap, the kind of “to love you rich or poor” kind of guy. He dated Moreen Amoding, the A1 Challenga and national team basketball player. However, things didn’t go as planned. Tuka was not going to live on the sweat of a basketball player.
However, Daphine had a little bit of work to do. She reportedly employed Tuka’s friends as spies. They often told her where Tuka hang out, and she would make a “surprise” appearance.
She tight-marked him, aware that Patricia Osman and Moreen Amoding were forces to reckon with. It is at one such surprise meeting that she forced Tuka to declare their relationship with Val Oketcho, Alex Ndaula and Ismail Dhakaba Kigongo as witnesses. Tuka fumbled. But the moment his body language curled into a slump of a resigned man, Daphine immediately took charge and spelt out the wedding plans. That was the last nail in the coffin in which Patricia Osman was buried. Osman reportedly stopped hanging out with workmates because she wouldn’t stand Daphine. Poor Amoding, she was left in the cold with her sweat, dribbles and romantic eyes. Her revenge is simple. She refuses to comment whenever Tuka interviews her for his sports shows.
Tuka goes for greener pasture
The 28-year-old sports journalist journeyman who has worked for GTV, WBS, Bukedde, Channel 44 and now at NTV and Capital FM had already noticed that money was not coming in as he had dreamed after joining media business.
However, the job gave him Daphine. When he looks at her eyes, he sees dollar bills only. She fully paid for their honeymoon in Dubai. Tuka’s contribution to the honeymoon was sperm. And after that he would come back for the coffee, cakes, WiFi and fuel at City Oil/Café Javas. However, as a man, he fooled many that he was in control of the whole life-changing process yet he was a puppet following what Kobusingye wants.
