Top Ugandan rappers that featured on the second edition of the UG CYPHER.

Enthralling! Ugandan hip hop and particularly the rappers that featured on the newly released cypher will surely be drenching in flowery superlatives. For the first time, Ugandan rappers might have more quotations than Tamale Mirundi, Kahinda Otafirre and Seya combined. Those not familiar with hip hop speak, a cypher is a platform that challenges rappers to tap into their subconscious thus play in a state of mind where thoughts flow from the mind rather than being instrumented and rehearsed. It challenges their wordplay, freestyle skill, and lyrical delivery with one rapping after the other against a carefully crafted  instrumental background. This is what the UG cypher was all about.

Featuring some of the top acts in the local rap game, the cypher is a progress from the debut edition. It boosts of more energy, humour and clever wordplay. The rappers showcased their rap skills flawlessly from the start to the end. They wove witty punchlines in and out that gave this edition plenty of memorable lines. Topics in the cypher varied from politics, social life to self pride. Enygma hilariously poked at Zari in one of his lines. ” I will be pushing platinum baby but I am never Zari”, he equipped making light of the socialite’s relationship with Diamond Platnumz. Navio took the oppourtunity to hit back at fans who were not happy with Flex D’Paper declaring him the best in the game. He also reminded us of his mum’s strength when she was allegedly attacked by robbers. “Mum got stabbed. She never shed tears”. Perhaps, the biggest surprise in this edition, Mun-G had a towering presence. Some fans and self proclaimed purists have been critical of his satirical lyricism and not in positive light. He took a swipe at the girls. ” Back then girls would laugh at me because of pimples. Now they stuck on my a** like apintos”. Ruyonga delivered a sermon in true light of his cause to rap. Nelly-sade, 3-Card, Mith, Big Trill, Tucker HD and Flex too had their moments of brilliance. Ninja C was the only female rapper on the cypher. She represented well. Ug Cypher is organized by Talent Africa a recording label. It was produced by Samurae. The visual is out as well. We like.
