The Pearl Guide Uganda through their Kampala Cocktail Week initiative, on Wednesday, hosted Kampala’s top lifestyle trendsetters to an exclusive VIP Cocktail Tasting held at Mythos Greek Taverna & Lounge, one of Kampala’s leading cocktail bars.
According to proprietor, Phillip Kalibwam, it was deliberately placed exactly 20 Days before the inaugural Kampala Cocktail Week. “The VIP Tasting’s objective was to usher in the new urban nightlife culture of fine drinking, where high quality ingredients and spirits take the centre stage, supported with inventive bartending.” said Phillip at the cocktail tasting.
The VIP Tasting was a night of Mystery where guests were treated to a sampling of five (5) Iconic cocktails, made based on 5 key spirits from the Diageo Range along with the freshest of fruit and herbal ingredients. The five cocktails showcased on the night were the Kabalagala Cooler, The Professor, Burning Passion, Jinja Road and Who’s Been Naughty?
The key spirit used in each cocktail was kept a mystery and from the aroma, look, taste and after taste, guests were required to guess which Mystery Spirit was used in each cocktail. At the end of the night, Mariah Nerima, Diane Kateeba and Paul Nasasira emerged as the 3 winners with the most correct answers and took home a Special Edition Uganda Waragi Gift Pack.
Kondwani Mhone, Head of Customer Marketing at Diageo / East Africa Breweries Limited, intimated that the group is proud to be at the forefront of Kampala Cocktail Week and pledged their continued support to the industry through the Master Bar Academy, Diageo’s training academy for Bartenders.
Kampala Cocktail Week runs from 3rd to 12th December and features 15 of Kampala’s top cocktail bars making Special Edition Celebratory Cocktail Menus at generous discounts with prices as low as UGX 5,000. Kampala should expect a spirited close to 2015.
