National soccer team head coach Micho Srodejovic has insisted that the national team will learn from their mistakes, as they prepare to take on Burundi in a must Win encounter at Hawasa National stadium, over 270km from Addis Ababa.
After training from the Hawasa Club stadium on Thursday , Srodejovic said that the results from Kenya really effected the team as they were punished for not taking their chances, adding that focus was now on them utilising opportunities and turn them into goals.
“You are always paying for not utilising chances. We had seven chances and utilised none, Kenya had four and utilised two and that is what football is all about. Good that we woke up against Zanzibar but it is still tough and we have to work harder to see that we advance,” said Srodejovic after the training.
He defended the selection of the team that had mostly members of the CHAN squad , adding that as Uganda, they were looking at the best future for the country, and since they have the CHAN tournament early next year, they had to bring in the home based players so that they get the required experience,” he said.
“We have to increase their experience in playing in competitive matches as we prepare them for a better tournament,” he added.
Uganda is set to play Burundi on Saturday in the last group matches at Hawasa. Though they already have an advantage of advancing as one of the better loser in the knockout stages, Uganda Team wants to beat Burundi to avoid other competitors on paper in the quarterfinal draws.
The group Action is taking place in Hawasa and Bahir Dar, with the knockout stages going back to Addis Ababa.
