The death of Master Blaster has been as characterized by drama as was his life. From many of his friends confessing to never knowing his name, to the scuffle that arose around the ownership of his corpse and the panoply of versions about his death. And just when we thought it is about time the “Embooko” artist got laid to a peaceful rest, another scuffle has emerged. According to sources, his family and the residents of Lamor, Kitgum have refused to bury him citing that the police needs come up with a proper explanation about his death.
“An idea to transport the body back to Kampala has since morning, been a common chant in the masses. They believe it will yield answers when they strike by storming the Inspector General of Police, Kale Kayihura’s office with the body.” Said a source in Lamor.
This prompted artist Bobi Wine to swing into action again as he, through Facebook, communicated that he was travelling to Kitgum to calm the masses down.
“He is not buried yet. His people have refused to bury him in Lamor(Kitgum). They want to send the BODY BACK! I am travelling there today to calm down the rioting youth,” said Bobi Wine in a Facebook post directed at the Kampala Sun today.
Bobi Wine also later relayed, through the same emotion-laced post, that he and Master Blaster were good friends.
“He rose from the Ghetto, travelled the world and has inspired many entertainers today. On 29th December, I WAS PERSONALY WITH MASTER BLASTER the whole evening at Plan B bar in Rubaga catching some good time and jamming on the microphone, each of us singing the other’s songs. We only parted ways at about 4:30am. I went to Kamwokya, he went to Bwaise. When I turned on my phone later in the day, I got news that he had been shot dead. The next call I got was from the KAMPALA METROPOLITAN POLICE COMMANDER who wanted to see me urgently,” relayed an emotional Bobi Wine on Facebook.
We just hope he succeeds with calming down the masses and giving his friend the rest he deserves.
