Tamale Mirundi might have been sacked from his role as presidential press secretary but he’s not about to stop barking on the president’s behalf. Since Friday 15, Mirundi’s boss, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has been subject to criticism for missing the presidential debate. As usual, Mirungi has come out to defend the president.
Here’s his Facebook post he wrote on Jan 17
“I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my listeners and fans here a happy new year 2016. I have been busy with official and personal duties thus failing to get ample time to respond to thy comments and reactions. I would like to clarify a few things on the recently concluded presidential candidate’s televised debate. My reply to the many questions will be in a more questionnaire form.
1. If someone invites you to a party, and on reaching the venue, your host is nowhere to be seen. Would you stay at that party? This comes from the fact that the so much awaited debate, is said to have been organized by the inter-religious council. Who of the members of the inter-religious council was present?
2. If what the opposition asserts that Museveni lost for having been away from the debate is true, then opposition should jubilate rather than cry foul for they will emerge winners in the fourth coming presidential elections.
3. Unless if one had no choice of a candidate before the debate, it’s believed that some even lost their would be votes due to the poor nature of issue analysis during the debate, otherwise no one is believed to have crossed to another camp.
4. If M7 is tired and doesn’t have what to tell the electrolate, why would you invite him to participate in the debate? Like he earlier mentioned at a press briefing today at Rwakitura,it was indeed a secondary school like debate.”
