2016 elections Presidential candidate, Joseph Elton Mabirizi speaking to press after casting his vote.

Independent Presidential candidate, Joseph Elton Mabirizi who carved himself a name for his inadvertently humor-laced answers during the presidential debate is not about to stop with his comedy. On polling day, he projected a 53% win for himself which was as wild a dream as Musician Apass’s dart at wooing Flavia Tumusiime. He eventually fell short; polling 23,762 votes representing 0.26% of the votes cast

Yet today, shortly after Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was announced president, Joseph Elton Mabirizi shot back with yet, another of his many comical statements when he took to his Twitter page.

“I would like to convey my personal best wishes to President Kaguta Museveni. Lets work as Ugandans and build the nation,” Mabirizi said on social media site, Twitter

He was the first among the candidates to congratulate the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer Yoweri Kaguta Museveni after he was declared the winner.

He also commended security services for their role in ensuring that the elections were mostly peaceful and violence free.

“I thank you all for turning out en-masse for the Feb 18th General Elections. I commend the election body for holding a free & fair election,” he added.

Mabirizipolled 23,762 votes representing 0.26% of the 9.2m votes cast.

“When the tally is done, I hope to win by 53%,” Mabirizi told reporters after casting his ballot at Lufuka in Wakiso District.
