A few days ago, social media was awash with musical artiste, Winnie Nakanwagi alias Winnie Nwagi’s old pictures. They appeared on a local Facebook bigwig’s (the type that’s referred to as Facebook bloggers but have no idea whatsoever what blogging is) Facebook timeline. The pictures were accompanied with allegations that Winnie Nwagi was once a prostitute.
The allegations relayed that before the Airtel Trace Music Star auditions, hers was a life of a destitute. She could barely afford shoes or bed sheets and that she used to borrow clothes whenever she was going to appear on stage. The allegations were laced with such profanity it looked like the person peddling them was indeed extremely infuriated. But he wasn’t.
It turns out however, that it was just a publicity stunt for Winnie Nwagi’s latest song. A figment concocted to hype the Swangz Avenue artiste’s latest song; Magic. The song, released together with a video is about the unrelenting woes of life that people go through and how God steps in to handle the situation.
When introducing the song on her Facebook page, Winnie relayed that her childhood wasn’t rosy either.
“I didn’t have much growing up, life has always been a struggled and it’ clearly evident in my old pictyres (which by the way I am proud of.) They remind me of my background which is a constant reminder that I need to wake up every day and work harder,” her post read in part.
On the same post however, it rained questions about the Facebook blogger’s allegations. Her fans were anxious. They asked whether the allegations held any grain of truth. She was coy on answering all. Jumping the questions and only replying to the inspirational comments.
