If you ask Helen Nuwagaba what drives her, the answer will be far removed from her endless list of great events she manages, the awards she has won and widespread recognition in the Diaspora.
She’ll make no mention of the multiple Ugandan gospel artists and various pastors she annually hosts, getting visas and funding their travel, let alone the high profile government officials she connects with and several African celebrities she works with.
When all is said and done, Helen’s heart lies someplace else. “Singing for God and doing things for his people is more home for me,” she says. “I’m most comfortable because I don’t even have to think hard. It’s something I love and I’ve been doing it for a long time. It comes from the heart and it touches the hearts.
And for sure this is evident through her kind of work. Helen is a Medical practitioner specialized in Sonography & Radiology and an ordained Evangelist. She founded the African Gospel musicals – USA, an awards and concerts body under her ministry Christ foundation ministries. Int. based in Maryland USA with a branch at Buddo Uganda. The ministry reaches out to the vulnerable and has over the years helped single mothers and women with Crisis pregnancies with basic needs and medical services. Her services and donations go into different nations such as Malawi, Uganda, Rwanda, Sierra Leon, Pakistan, India, etc. This is possible through various charity music concerts that she regularly organizes.
Helen is a US based Ugandan gospel artist and was recently nominated in the Diaspora category of the VIGA Music Awards that happen next week. She started singing professionally in March 2014, the same year she released her six tracks “Webale Mukama” Album that consists of songs like “Meeme yange”, “Kibumba”, My desire, “Lindirira Mukama” and love ballad “Amuleese”. She worked with great producers such as Vincent Othieno which helped her to quickly launch into the music industry with her music gaining massive airplays on Local and international media. Helen won the Award of best upcoming gospel Artist in Washington D.C in March 2014.
In her secondary school, Helen dedicated her life to serving God and since then sings gospel music because she believes she has been redeemed, justified and sanctified by God. Her music is an offering in appreciation to God for the Great things He has done in her life. She has been writing music for the last twenty years and compiled a 10 album song book that she desires to turn into classic worship pieces. The songs are in Lusoga, Swahili, Kiganda & English and Helen desires to be back home and launch them in December, 2018.
