Money talks, bullsh*t walks. That famous adage, best described city philanthropist Jack Pemba. Just when sections of the public rubbished him off for running broke, Pemba has gone one better and hired Koffi Olomide and his entire ensemble to perform at his (Pemba’s) 45th birthday at Speke Resort Munyonyo on February 3rd.
Koffi made the confirmation over the weekend: “I confirm that I will be in Kampala for Jack Pemba’s birthday. We love Jack Pemba. He’s a friend and a brother so for his birthday, I will be there as a special guest. God bless you,” Koffi said.
Although Pemba was tight-lipped on the logistics involved in bringing Koffi Olomidde we have since learnt that it is in excesses of $20,000 (sh71m). That sum is perhaps pocket friendly, considering other private functions Koffi Olomide has performed at.
In 2014, Koffi Olomidde performed at the wedding of the Zimbabwe’s First Daughter Bona Mugabe 2014 for $300,000. Last year, he reportedly performed for $250,000 at a party for a rich son of a Bank Governor in South Sudan.
We also understand that singer Maurice Kirya who will share a stage with Congolese music star Koffi Olomide is already talking up collaboration. Pray he doesn’t kick you instead!
