Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly ready to let as many as ten first-team players at the end of this season as he plans a major revamp of his squad.
The Spanish tactician has endured a tough start at the Etihad Stadium as he adjusts to life in the Premier League, but he has also inherited an ageing and over-the-hill squad from previous boss Manuel Pellegrini.
City are already lining up some summer transfer targets, with big names like Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin and Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in Guardiola’s sights.
However, according to The Times, there could also be a long list of players on their way out, with Samir Nasri, Joe Hart, Eliaquim Mangala and Wilfried Bony not in Guardiola’s plans and set to be sold.
In addition to that, Yaya Toure, Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna, Jesus Navas and Willy Caballero are all out of contract in the summer and look unlikely to be kept on.
This will leave City with a much-changed squad, and that may be why Guardiola himself now wants more time to make the desired impact at City by asking for a new contract just over six months in.
