There are many incentives for footballers to succeed, money and prestige noteworthy standing. And 2017 Uganda’s CAF Champions league representatives KCCA F.C will go into today’s preliminary first leg showdown against Angolan giants CD Primero de Agosto with crystal clear image of what vast riches on offer for the club.

KCCA fans are expected to turn up in large numbers to cheer on their team.
KCCA fans are expected to turn up in large numbers to cheer on their team.

With prestige that comes with succeeding at the prestigious tournament, KCCA F.C will hope that history repeats it’s self-following their fairly tale run in 2008-2009 campaign, then under the guise of George Best Nsimbe . In that memorable tournament, against all odds the striking pair of Robert Ssentongo and Brian Umony flexed their goal scoring muscles to steer the Yellow boys past many favored opponents. KCCA knocked out Mozambican side Ferroviário Maputo 3-2 on aggregate, went on to eliminate Denis Onyango and Super sport united on the same aggregate but failed to surmount Al-Merreikh of Sudan .
They dropped to the Caf confederation Cup playoff round, where the defeated Bayelsa United 3-1 but were demolished by the Nigerian outfit 4-0 in the return leg. And Mike Mutebi and his disciples know that a repeat of such heroics will see their names enshrined in the Club’s folklore. The winner between KCCA and their opponents will play the holders Defending Champions Mamelodi Sundowns
Yet victory for Mike mutebi and his disciples will be a money minting feat. they will book a ticket to the expanded group stages where huge sums of money kicks in, thanks to CAF‘s new sponsorship partners- Oil and Fuel giants Total. A staggering 550,000 dollars (1.9bn) will be the least amount of money the 11-Time league Champions are expected to pocket
