Diamond Ensemble, a drama group owned by Rubaga South MP Kato Lubwama has been evicted from the Royal theatre in Old Kampala, for failing to pay six months rent worth over Shs50 million.
The eviction happened amidst preparations to reintroduce the Kandondoli show in Royal theatre.
Early today, court brokers under police security were seen throwing out the theatre’s belongings. Hajji Twaha Gwaivu the owner of the building and the MPs landlord says that the honorable had six months without paying rent.
He adds that the case was in court. On 22 March, high court issued a ruling asking Royal theatre to vacate his premises and when he realized Kato was not responding to the ruling, he did it himself. Kato Lubwama was not in place during the eviction.
