Last weekend (Saturday) was a fun filled day for people of Lira who came from different corners of the district to enjoy the #I knowKati concert.
The crowd stood under the scorching sun from 8:00am at the Mayor’s gardens.
The concert started at 7:00pm and when Mun G, Tonix and Daxx Kartel finally stepped on stage they each gave thrilling performances that were worth the wait.
When each of the artists took to the stage, revellers started screaming in excitement, clapping and finally all of them were on their feet and started dancing.
Apart from performing their songs, the singers also passed on messages on HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention which was the major aim for the concert.
When the MC announced it had ended and requested people to go back to their homes, they all shouted “No, we want more”.
Earlier in the day, the crowd was being entertained on band by a team of guys from Tennessee and New Orleans.
The #IKnowKati HIV/AIDS awareness concert was organized by Reach A Hand Uganda (RAHU). Before the concert, RAHU together with other partners like Marie Stopes and TASO, Lira district provided free sexual and reproductive health services among them, HIV/AIDS testing and counseling, blood donation and free family planning services like condoms. Hundreds of people lined up to get these services
The concert aimed at creating HIV awareness and to ensure people get to know their status to lead healthy lives. 1703 people tested for HIV and 170 units of blood were donated.
