Comedy had somehow gotten a sister name; Night. Almost every comedian in Kampala hosted a night in a bar just yards after the other and it had the same faces. While the industry was almost losing it, something new and special was introduced; A Comedy festival and the first ever happened over the weekend in Kampala.
The festival was hosted by Comedian Okello Okello at Century cinemax Acacia mall and hundreds turned up to laugh.
Unlike the usual shows, this one thrilled Ugandans for it was a 2 day International event that had comedians like Rwanda’s Michael Sengazi, Zimbabwe’s Long John, AK Dans from South Sudan as well as Kenya’s Emmanuel Kisangani. These performed along with Uganda’s comedy grandfather Pablo Kimuli, Ronnie Mcvex, Tumu Siime, Laptop and OJ as well as Timothy J.
On their Saturday event, a new Nigerian Comedian, Dr. Ofweneke was introduced. With his talent and creativity about sugar mummies, another name after Basket mouth must have been crammed in the heads of skinny girls who kept praising him.
Other comediasn like Rwanda’s Babu Jean Divin Uganda’s Cotilda Inapo, Emma Napoleone, Daniel Omara, Akite Agnes and Optional Allan also made the crowd scream.
