Geoffrey Oryema, the coveted World Music star, who characterizes his music as Afro-pop-rock, returned to Uganda after 40 years of exile. Geoffrey Oryema’s father is Eriyano Wilson Oryema who was murdered along with Archbishop Janani Luwum during Idi Amin’s regime which he served as a minister.
Oryema will perform at the Bayimba Honours concert to take place tomorrow, Saturday December 16 at Lohana Academy in Kololo. “I am closing that sad chapter (of exile) and beginning a new one. It is my first time here in 40 years and I am honoured that I will be performing in my motherland,” Oryema said at a press conference earlier today.
Oryema also plans to visit his “second” home in Northern Uganda before he flies back to France. “I will return regularly to the country,” he added. He also said that he is working on another album which will be out in about two years
