Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) in partnership with the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) and Kenya Airways have agreed to promote regional domestic tourism under the realm of the East Africa Tourism Platform. The goal is to increase the number of holiday and business travelers within the two countries.
To enhance this partnership, KTB unveiled popular local artist Edrisa Musuuza alias Eddie Kenzo as their official Magical Kenya ambassador in Uganda and the rest of the region.
According to KTB CEO Betty Radier, Eddie Kenzo was sleeted because of his huge following not only in Uganda but in East Africa and beyond. “We want to use music, culture and the arts to promote the diversity of our region and we are aware that Eddie Kenzo being a popular artiste has a good following in social media and beyond. We choose to make him a good channel of passing on the message of diversity and beautiful destinations available in Kenya and East Africa as a whole” said Radier.
During the unveiling ceremony, Radier bragged that they could have chosen an artiste from the diaspora but instead they opted for their own, vying to showcase talent and let the world appreciate what East Africans are made of.
While holiday remains the major reason for travel into East Africa, Kenya Airways also came on board as the main appeal flight carrier that will be plugged in as one of the main flights for tourists intending to visit the region.
