Former athlete Nuwagaba dead

Former national athlete Godfrey Nuwagaba has passed away in Addis Ababa.
Nuwagaba has been serving as the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) and Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) treasurer. He was manager of prominent local athletes Stephen Kiprotich, Joshua Cheptegei and Moses Kipsiro.
According to UAF organising secretary, Fausino Kiwa, Nuwagaba was aboard an Emirates flight to Dubai yesterday with his wife when he collapsed while working on his laptop.

Nuwagaba (2nd left) was Chef De Mission for Uganda at the 2nd Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing China 2014.

The plane made an emergency landing in Addis Ababa where an unconscious Nuwagaba was taken to a hospital where he passed away on Tuesday morning.
“Nuwagaba was accompanied by his wife and a 10-month-old baby,” said an official.
Born on July 3, 1964, Nuwagaba also served as Treasurer – Uganda Athletics Federation and Chef de mission – Youth Olympic Games 2010, 2014 and Youth Commonwealth Games 2015, 2017. Nuwagaba was also the bursar, Standard High School, Zzana
