Musicians start new organisation to Save Uganda Music

The Save Uganda Music campaign was spearheaded by a handful of musicians and yesterday at the centenary park based Laftaz Lounge where a meeting for the campaign’s way forward was held.

Attended by almost all Ugandan A and B list singers/musicians,a committee of (4) people was selected to spearhead duties of this campaign.

Singer Bobi Wine called for unity among the music fraternity

These include Julius Kyazze,Angella Kalule,Douglas Lwanga and Silver Kyagulanyi who will be guided by Pallaso,Mesach Ssemakula,Eddie Kenzo and Jose Chameleon.

The same meeting came to many desicions one of them being the impeaching and detaching of ugandan artists from UPRS(Uganda Performers Rights Society)headed by a one Wasula and creating a new musician association.

According to them,UPRS has for long deprived them of their revenue from their songs on baseless grounds and forth.

It also had different speakers give their views and comments about copyright law for artistes interest and understanding,Media Houses and Dj roles in Saving Uganda Music among others.

King Saha was attentive through out the deliberations

One of the speakers was Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Hon.Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine who asked his fellows to influence the legislation of this bill so that it will be tabled to parliament for a debate.

Andrew Benon Kibuuka stresses a point

He also assured them of his support in the above matter and further hinted at their lyrical maturity.

‘Fellow musicians,please improve on your lyrics on which ever topic you singing about because they portray who we are and how people out their will react to our cry’ he said.​​
