The movie Rain has dominated the 2017 Pearl International Film Festival (PIFF) awards. At the award ceremony that took place at the National Theatre on Friday, Rain scooped five of the 20 awards given out at the night. This comes barely a week after the movie won the best women’s rights film award at the London Eye International festival.
The movie clinched Best Feature, Best Director, Best supporting actress, Best production design and best Screenplay, which they also won in the Uganda Film Festival awards in September.
Directed by Daniel Mugerwa and produced by Mathew Nabwiso, Rain is a story of a girl called Dora alias Rain who holds onto the idea of hope irrespective of her overwhelming tragedies.
In its seventh edition, PIFF is a local award event for local Ugandan films. On the local film circuit, it is second the pretty more prestigious UFF, organized by Uganda Communication Commission.
Celebrated actress and singer, Mariam Ndagire graced the event and walked home with an award of Best TV Drama for her drama, Ba Aunt.
