Organizers of the Roast and Rhyme festival on Sunday June 24 gave troubled musician and manager of Goodlyfe music group, Geoffrey Kyagambidwa, aka Chagga, a new lease to his musical life when they introduced him as a surprise performer at the venue.
It was earlier reported that Chagga, who was caged on June 16, had been bailed out by Swangz Avenue boss Benon Mugumbya, with whom they have a good musical history.
However, according to our moles, Chagga paid Sh5 million and promised to pay the balance in a period of one month, failure of which he will be rearrested.
Swangz Avenue PR Jaylor Birungi told Kampala sun that they were both surprised and happy that he came out before the Roast and Rhyme event since he had been booked to perform and it would therefore be a disappointment to the audience if he had not performed.
In March, Weasel sacked Chagga after the long- time manager a few days earlier lamented that socialite Bryan White was misleading his artist.
On his part Weasel sacked Chagga saying he was mismanaging him and forcing him to do shows yet he was still grieving the loss of his friend, Mowzey Radio.
Weasel added then that he could not part ways with Byran White because he is a long-time friend and brother and was one of the few people who supported him and Radio after leaving his brother Jose Chameleone’s Leone Island. The socialite is said to have given the duo Shs400,000 then.
Organized by record label Swangz Avenue, the Roast and Rhyme Season 7 held at Jahazi Pier in Munyonyo, Kampala brought together a host of local musicians, highlighting Chagga, Jamal, Fefe Busi among others under the theme story tellers Edition.
Our Agencies were by press time unable to get a comment from Benon Mugumbya on whether the label, which is managing artists like Fik Fameika, and others has plans on signing Chagga.
