At the 2017 Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards (ASFAs), philanthropist Jack Pemba stole the show.
With a stash of sh100m, he was heralded as the best thing to happen to the awards since inception. This year (2018) has been tough on Jack Pemba. In his absence, worthy tycoons are ready to take on the mantle of the ASFAS.
Latest word doing round is that Ugandan businessman based in South Africa; Cameroon Gitawo has expressed interest in taking over flagship sponsorship at the 2018 ASFAs.
This comes after rumors indicated that he is in talks with local fashion designer and proprietor of the Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards (ASFAs), Ahumuza Brian aka Abryanz to come on board for this year’s edition.
Sources have intimated to us that Gitawo wants to officially represent the Ugandan community in South Africa at the annual event that is marked by glitz and glamour.
Although the talks are said to be in their early stages, sources say that if they are successful the tycoon is preparing a sponsorship package of around Sh50m to boost the award ceremony.
However, sources close to Abryanz reveal that after the sh100m windfall he bagged last year, he is looking for more. Chances are that Gitawo will be brought on board as one of the sponsors, a feat that will permit him to sponsor a category and give an accolade at the award ceremony.
The ASFAs which were held for their fifth edition in 2017 are a premier fashion event in Uganda
