Kadongokamu singer and ardent soccer fan Mathias Walukagga has thrown a major tantrum. He has vowed never to watch the national team, the Uganda Cranes in action for as long as FUFA president, Eng. Moses Magogo is still at the helm.
Walukaga’s ire follows the ban of Bobi Wine’s Kyarenga concert at Namboole Stadium, after it was pushed from 20th October to November 9, 2018.
Namboole Stadium management for the second time withdrew the offer to host the much anticipated Kyarenga concert citing CAF sanctions.
“We regret to inform you that the stadium shall not be able to host your event as tentatively booked,” reads the letter to concert promoters.
In a letter dated October 19, Jamil Sewanyana the Namboole, the stadium manager, advised Bobi Wine his promoters to to seek alternatives saying “we have received a complaint from our stakeholder in sports development- FUFA [Federation of Uganda Football Association] that raised the following pertinent concerns of national charter.”
This follows a letter dated October 17, FUFA Chief executive officer Edgar Watson Suubi who noted that the stadium is under ‘red flag’, Confederation of African Football [CAF] keenly observing the conditions as key competition factor for the forthcoming 2019 qualifier football match.
“It has come to the Federations notice that Mandela Stadium management has entered into an agreement to have a public event take place on 9th November 2018 within the stadium,” Edgar Watson noted.
He added that “in our opinion, any public event within the International football match period put the Stadium into an unacceptable standard to detriment CAF docking off points from the Uganda Cranes for the upcoming game on 17th November.
Following the development, people have started coming out to give their thoughts and many are suggesting Boycotting Uganda Crane’s matches at Namboole stadium, Mathias Walukagga is one of them and he has decided never to watch Uganda Crane’s match again till when Magogo resigns.
“Magogo is an enemy of football and has chosen to bring party politics into football. He is being used to marginalize the grassroots people. I will never watch Uganda Cranes for as long as he is president,” he ranted on social media.
