The public came out just days after Miss World Africa, Quiin Abenakyo graduated from Makerere University to cast doubts over her degree after it was alleged she had retakes.
Now the organiser of the Miss Uganda Beauty pageant, Brenda Nanyonjo has commented on the issue, wondering what the source of the information was or whether the beauty queen is the first to get a retake.
She explains that because of Abenakyo’s duties and responsibilities as Miss Uganda, she missed some exams and when the university asked why, she explained. Then they asked her to write formally with proof which she did and was given the exams which she aced and graduated.
She also explains that the beauty queen was not part of the Tulambule Campaign because they didn’t have a good arrangement with the tourism ministry, also noting that everyone who follows the Speaker, Rebecca Kadaga knows she is a champion of keeping the girl child in school, which Miss Uganda has been a part since Fiona Bizzu’s reign.
She adds that when the speaker contacted them to go to Kamuli District and was facilitating them, they had no reason to object and so do not owe the public any explanation.
