Budo League starts in high gear

The third season of The Budo League (TBL) Football Tournament kicked off in high gear last Sunday at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds. The day long gala started off with a press conference, where the organizers, a committee consisting of Kings College Buddo alumni announced that this year would be different.

They announced that unlike last year, where participants would play in form of houses, this year would be classes.

“When we played as houses, many people got left out. There was an imbalance in energy as well. So in order to involve more people, we decided to play against classes. Alumni will play against each other, according to the year they left Kings College Buddo,” explained Bruce Luswatta, the president of the TBL.

He added that the alumni also get involved in charity activities.

“After football, we fundraise money and contribute to the library of a literacy program called Soo Many Stories,” explained Luswata.

At a few minutes shy of mid-day, after screening to identify whether the players were indeed alumni, , the games started. And as opposed to the previous year, the gala had some phenomenal footballers like the left footed Joshua Sengendo, who netted twice as his side Abachuba walloped an older side called Quadballo.
