Music promoter Balaam Barugahara has “fulfilled” some of the pledges made by President Yoweri Museveni during his recent Operation Wealth Creation tour in Masindi district.

Handing over about sh30m to various groups from Masindi in Hoima town on Monday, Barugahara said he was fulfilling some of the pledges Museveni made at a rally in Masindi last month.

“I am using my own resources to help the people and fulfil some of the things the president promised to do for these groups in Masindi.

These people petitioned the president for assistance and I told the president I will handle some of these pledges,” Barugahara said.

He handed sh5m to Masindi district National Resistance Movement (NRM) offices, sh1m to Dove Football Club in Masindi, sh4m to the Masindi Youth Cooperative, sh5m to Masindi Kitara diocese, sh2.5m to Kijuura market vendors, sh2.5m to Kirasa market vendors, sh1m to Booma Football Club and sh5m to Masindi Town Mosque.

“The district NRM party told the president they had not paid sh6m in rent and I have confirmed that with the district party chairperson, Kabakumba Masiko and I am giving the party sh5m.

I am doing this on behalf of the president and out of the desire to help the people in my area,” Barugahara said
