Events promoter Andrew Mukasa famously known as Bajjo Events will spend another week at Luzira prison after his bail application was cancelled on Friday.
Bajjo was arrested by security operatives last month over recorded audios shared on internet. He was later bundled in Luzira prison.
On Friday, Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu adjourned the bail ruling to July 11 after trial magistrate Stella Ambirisi failed to show up.
Court was filled to the brim by family and friends who looked on crest fallen as Bajjo was denied bail. He (Bajjo) looked unperturbed.
“I didn’t hear the bail application. I don’t know the sureties and I have never seen their recommendation letters so I have no ruling to deliver,” Kamasanyu said.
Bajjo’s lawyer, Erias Lukwago said that the adjournment was unfair considering that his client wasn’t in the best health. “My client has bad complications and all he gets are pain killers,” he begged.
Prosecution contends that in June 2019, Bajjo in different places wilfully and with intent to disturb the person of the president recorded audios and shared them on social media with inciting messages.
Police is considering slapping treason charges against Bajjo. Police spokesman Fred Enanga told journalists that Bajjo’s treason charges stem from a video in which he was allegedly inciting people to cause an uprising against President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and his government.
