Tiwa Savage threatens not to perform in South Africa

Nigerian diva Tiwa Savage has threatened not to perform at the upcoming DSTV Delicious Festival in Johannesburg that is slated to take place on September 21 this year.

This comes after xenophobic attacks targeting foreigners, especially Nigerians, living in South Africa. Shops have been attacked and merchandise belonging to Nigerians vandalised.

According to Tiwa Savages’ official Twitter  post, “I refuse to watch the barbaric butchering of my people in South Africa. This is sick. For this reason I will not be performing at the upcoming DSTV Delicious Festival on the September 21, 2019 in Johannesburg. My prayers are with all the victims and families affected by this.”

She is not the first musician to talk about the ongoing incidents of violence in South Africa. Burna Boy has made an alarm to all African immigrants staying in South Africa. He asked them to defend themselves against the attackers.

It is alleged that the exchange apparently started when Nigerian rapper YCee tweeted his opinion about how South Africans felt towards Nigerians, citing AKA’s tweets back when South Africa lost to Nigeria in the Africa Cup Of Nations quarter finals earlier this year.
