Federation of Uganda Football Association unveiled a new Uganda Cranes head coach, Jonathan Brian McKinstry, a Rwanda reject. The Northern Irishman was sacked by the land of a thousand hills barely five months after renewing his contract in 2017.
McKinstry, 34, replaces Frenchman Sebastien Desabre who resigned after the AFCON 2019 finals in Egypt in July 2019. The journeyman has coached several countries including Northern Ireland, England, USA, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Rwanda and Lithuania.
The young tactician made the cut out of 137 coaches that applied for the job and he was officially unveiled by the FUFA CEO Edgar Watson who was flanked by the acting FUFA President Justus Mugisha and Communications Director, Ahmed Hussein.
He might be a reject, but to slay queens, it is the looks that matter and they could not have prayed for a better replacement for Desabre’s. Unlike the Frenchman who jetted in his family, the good news is that Mckinstry is party animal too so if you bump into him in a night spot, just write your digits on his sleeve as the hunt for the French kiss in no more.
