Evelyn Namatovu Kironde has raised the Uganda flag when she emerged second runner up in the recently concluded 2019 Miss International that ran under the theme, ‘Cheer All Women’.
Namatovu, got a double-win of second runner up and won the Miss International Special Award of Best in Swimsuit at the grand finale hosted in Tokyo, Japan November, 12.
This year’s Miss International Queen is Thailand’s Sireethorn Leearamwat who succeeded the crown from Venezuela’s Mariem Velazco, Miss International 2018/2019. Mexico’s Andrea Toscano became the first runner up in the contest.
Contestants were classified under five continents of; Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania and Americas in which they competed.
During competition rounds; National costume, Swimwear, and Evening gown, the top 15 semifinalists were selected after which judges narrowed the finalists to the top 8 contestants. These competed in the question and answer grill where judges chose the top 5 that include the winner and the four runners up.
The Miss International Pageant is a Japanese-based International beauty pageant organized by the International Culture Association. The pageant was initiated in 1960 in Japan and has been happening year in year out. This year’s edition was its 59th time happening which saw contestants from a sum of 83 countries and territories participating compared to 2018 where the number was 6 digits low.
Evelyn Namatovu is a commercial model signed under Joram Model Management and a business lady. She awaits graduation with a Bachelors degree in Entrepreneurship and small Business Management from Makerere University Business School come January 2020.
Namatovu once contested in Miss Uganda 2016 where she finished in the top five and won the Miss Beach Beauty crown in that year’s pageant.
Uganda participated in this contest, Miss International, back in 2009 and we must write that this is a fair rejuvenation. We congratulate you, Evelyn Namatovu Kironde.
