It has since been dubbed the yellow Sunday and ranks highly on the social and international athletics calendar.  On Sunday, thousands of elite and slay runners participated in the highly billed MTN marathon.

The Kololo grounds were a sea of yellow, blue and white as thousands of over 25,000 euphoric athletes raced for a noble cause of helping maternal health care in Uganda.

It was a predominantly Ugandan affair as athletes made a clean sweep in the 21.1Km male and female category, with all five athletes in the male and female, all Ugandans.  Jacob Kiplimo (1:01:03) was the best in the men, while Juliet Chekwel (1:13: 08) won in the women’s category.

In the 10 Km, Denis Cherotich (00:29: 59) won in the men while Sauline Chelangat (00:35: 29) won in the female category, bagging a cash prize of sh1.5m.  They won sh4.5m each.

As the elite runners had their sights on prize money, a bulk of the athletes had their minds on snap chat, Facebook live, Instagram, and Twitter.  Others came to make fashion statements while others came to show off their dog collection.  We captured the pictures.
