Every team has a player who pulls a crowd thanks to his or her talent or looks. For former KCCA FC attacker Paul Mucurezi, who signed for home side Mbarara City Football Club, it was both as the number of ladies in the stands increased.
From a prominent family having some cash to splash, he become a target for many Mbarara slay queens. For the last 19 months, he has been a hot cake that has attracted fellow socialites including TV West presenter Annabell Twinomugisha.
However, as you read this, male fans are cursing 2020 for losing one of their key players to female fans. It was more of a nightmare as they woke up to his farewell message on his official social media accounts today (Thursday).
“Good morning to the Mbarara City family; it is with a heavy heart that I announce that I will be leaving Mbarara City FC after my contract run out at the end of December 2019.”
“I leave with very good memories that will always remind me that I have a home and a family here and people with whom I have made an everlasting bond. When I chose to come to Mbarara, it was to give my all and help to elevate the club to greater heights and I feel that we achieved that last season and in the first part of this season.”
Despite rumours surrounding unpaid salaries and allowances, Mucurezi said his move has nothing to do with money, but a right decision to make another step in the right direction.
“I wish the club all the best on their journey in the Uganda Premier League this season and future endeavors,” he signed out.
