Young rapper Fresh Kid must be the luckiest kid of last year and this year. First, it was a scholarship to Kampala Parents, now he has received a tablet from Rajiv Rupareilia to enable him take lessons online.

It is important to note that the school became a topic of conversation last week when it asked parents to pay sh1.8m for online classes.

The other beneficiary is fellow rapper, Felista who also received a tablet.

According to Rajiv Ruparelia, the school’s managing director, he believes it will help the youngsters learn and also serve as an example to parents to embrace technology because no one knows when Covid-19 will go away.

However, some parents were angered by the gesture, stating that Rajiv is seeking attention because if he really cared, he would have considered reducing on the sh1.8m for the online classes.

Maria Ssali wrote: “He is just chasing clout, if he is truly generous why doesn’t he reduce on the sh1.8m he is asking for those classes especially for the candidates. Even old people can become clout chasers.”

Shreya Varun wrote: “It is a great gesture, but I would feel moreee happy, if the management looks out for kids who could not attend online classes because he/she cannot afford to have a laptop/tablet/smart phone. I am very sure there are many. And I am talking about P7 pupils. Best wishes to Fresh Kid.”
