Kenzo’s HAPA Award doubted by trolls

By Ahmad Muto

Singer Eddy Kenzo has become quite a fodder for entertainment news for over a year now. And awards and his name in the same sentences have all not been spared. He announced on social media on Sunday that he had scooped a Hollywood And African Prestigious Award (HAPA) for Best International Male Artiste, Africa. “Thank you God we represented the pearl in Hollywood. For God And My Country. #HAPAAWARDS#BestInternationalMaleArtist #Blessed.”

It is as if it didn’t get the attention he expected. On Monday morning, he punched another post about the same award with the caption, “Alhamdlillah.”

However, a section of the public has grown prickly with all the lesser known awards he keeps winning. They are bothered because the information about the organisers, nominations and award ceremonies are very scanty and most times unavailable. As much as he was congratulated in numbers, some have shared their frustrations and doubts. Others felt nothing matters now except what has been dubbed the “struggle.”

Bakr Bashy: “Budde bwa struggle do not bring your nonsense here.”

Isaac Darling: “Which music won you this award?”

Lutwama Eric: “Am sorry but I do not understand. What has Kenzo sang in the last year?//”

Kazmon: “When was the nomination?”

Kizza Trasi: “We support u but I still wonder on the criteria they use to award u boss coz we have super stars. Is it still luck or?”
